Weight Management

If you've arrived at this page because you seem to have spent most of your life dieting, only to find that after a while you've gained back the weight you lost and some extra pounds. Then you can take comfort in realising that you are not alone

One of the problems with diets in that they require ongoing and constant determination, and as such many people who have trouble managing their weight feel like they are constantly fighting their eating habits.

Being told constantly about healthy food choices, portion size, food addiction, nervous eating, cravings, binges and the latest slimming plan, doesn't actually help, and in many cases can have the reverse effect, causing you to think constantly about food.

How can hypnotherapy help?

The weight management programme I offer is based on some simple observations, and one of those is that dieting doesn't work. From my experience it can also leave people feeling sad and miserable. So a major part of the programme is helping you to be happy with who you are, both inside and out.

In many cases, food itself is never really the issue, its simply old engrained habits and thoughts. If you really want to transform yourself permanently into a slim and healthy person, then you must change your relationship with food and excercise and as such the programme helps you address:

  • Emotional eating - "No matter how much I eat, I never feel full"
  • Unconscious eating - "I thought we had more biscuits than this"
  • Excercise avoidance - "When do i get time to excercise"
  • Body image - "I feel fat and unattractive"

Hypnotherapy focuses directly on changing the behaviour at the root cause, as well as creating new habits. Instead of dieting and slimming programmes, we can work to change how you think and act about food at a deeper level. As a result, you gain control over your habit and lose weight naturally.

None of us were born with the desire to overeat, if you watch a baby feeding on a bottle or being fed, it knows when its full and if you try and feed it more food, it will spit it out. As we grow up we can become conditioned to having food used as a reward or punishment, or cleaning our plate, or being made to feel quilty for not.

For years I had to clean every spot of food on my plate because as a child i was constantly told about the childern starving in Africa. Eventually, this behaviour overrides our natural internal voice that tells us when we are full, and as such we can gorge or overeat, unknowingly.

When these habits are addressed at a subconscious level, you can regain control which allows you to achieve weight loss. Proper nutrition and exercise can become a matter of simple choice rather than a constant internal struggle.
